Mobile Music Lessons Partners with MercyOne To Offer Music As Therapy Program for Cancer Patients

Updated: Jun 19, 2022

Mobile Music Lessons is excited to share that it has partnered with the MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center to lead its new Music As Therapy Program. Through monthly and quarterly programming, patients will explore various areas of music therapy including receptive (listen and response), recreation, improvisation and song-writing.

The MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center honors the vision of Richard L. Deming, M.D., a Des Moines radiologist and philanthropist, and a regional and national leader in cancer care. The Center offers patient-centered, compassionate care for patients. The Center focuses around three areas:

1. Comprehensive, Multidisciplinary and Patient-Centered Care: where patients are seen within a few days of diagnoses and meet their care team all in one place.

2. Research and Innovation: Through a $16-million dollar fundraising campaign through MercyOne Des Moines Foundation, the MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center has funded new, cutting-edge equipment and research to transform the care of patients in Central Iowa.

3. Compassionate, Whole-Person Care: Through the Integrative Medicine program, the first one of its kind, the Center offers Music As Therapy (led by Mobile Music Lessons), Art As Therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage therapy and more.
