Educator Anita Collins shares how playing music exercises our brains and how this can improve function for other everyday tasks. The most evident distinction between listening to and performing music is that making the music uses more fine motor abilities, which is regulated by both sides of the brain. It blends the left hemisphere's language and math with the right hemisphere's creativity, enabling signals to go around the brain faster. This makes it possible for artists to find more original and efficient solutions to problems outside of the practice room!
