Q: How did you get started playing your chosen instrument?
A: I started playing piano when I was 5 and violin at 7– my older siblings played and I fell in love with them both!
Q: What is your favorite piece or composer and why?
A: Brahms’s late intermezzi (op. 117 and 118) are beautiful piano pieces that remind me of my childhood. He always has these beautiful inner voice melodies!
Q: Why is music important to you?
A: I think music is a human responsibility for connection, expression, bringing meaning, and improving the world. I think all forms of art have this, but music has a special connection to time, where it requires to capture your attention for a fixed period.
Q: What is your teaching philosophy?
A: My teaching philosophy is that music is for anyone at every age, level, and need. I think music is essential for children especially and positively affects every aspect of life.
